Ho Ho Ho!

Every year, Santa comes to visit our house a few days before he actually leaves gifts to "check in" with the Oglesby family. He makes sure that everyone is behaving.

Kayton is usually not a fan of Santa or anyone dressed up for that matter. This year she sat on his lap...but was pretty guarded...as you can see from the crossed arms.

Trey was very happy to see Santa as he is every year. He was the first to say hello. He reported that he wanted a red dump truck...hmmm, that's a new one.

Kenyon was the first to sit on Santa's lap. She is unafraid of most things. She woke up from a nap about five minutes before he arrived and was a little groggy when he got here. She told Santa that she wanted a girl baby doll (Phew). She got two candy canes from Santa and immediately gave one to Trey.

Even Doug and I got to talk with Santa. Ho Ho Ho!!

Bah Humbug...

I have been having a hard time with Christmas spirit this year. The economy is really getting to Doug and me. However, on a lighter note...Kayton and Kenyon are in the playroom right now giggling like crazy. I am listening to them and smiling knowing that everyone is happy and healthy. Happy Holidays!!

Hip Hip Hooray

Doug took a break and put the kids to work. Kayton took a turn...
then Trey...

...and finally Kenyon got to try. She was the funniest to watch. Instead of moving her arms up and down, she walked backward and frontwards.

Here is a picture to show what the new color looks like vs. the old color!

And finally...the completed project. Don't you just love how our artwork looks with the new paint color. The whole room is just so bright and cheery now! I am smiling just looking at the pictures:-) Good job Dougie!!

The waitress

Kayton with her menus or "manu's"
Kayton has been working on "kid writing" at school. This means that she has a journal and she writes by sounding words out phonetically. She has been writing about EVERYTHING. She is constantly asking how to spell words. She decided today that she wanted to be our waitress. She made menus with some lunch choices.

-Hot pokits
-penut br and jle
-pekul (pickle)
-penut br and moshmllo
-malk
-jus
-lemnad
-coc

Doug chose the hot pocket and lemonade and I chose to have the peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich and a diet coke. She's working on the dessert menu...yum!

Gobble Gobble...

Well, you can tell that Thanksgiving is over. The turkeys have come out of hiding. The other day, there were about 20 in our yard. They were not happy with Doug chasing them with the camera. Tryptophan anyone?

Grandparents Day at LCNS

Linglestown Christian Nursery School has a Grandparents Day every year. This year only Gammy could attend...with Aunt Ashley as a special guest. They got to see Trey, Kenyon and Tessa sing songs and perform and then had some treats!

Blizzard 2008

The kids in the snow.
The front yard...normally you can see the mountains from here.

backyard...

...and the pretty house!

Sledding in the 'burg

We got some snow the other week. It was coming down so fast that we got bombarded in a very short period of time. The kids thought it was great!! They all got bundled up in their snow clothes and boots and went down our very steep driveway...which makes for a good sled hill but not so much for actually driving on it!!

Super Dad!

Doug has had some time "off" recently and has really taken it in stride. He has been super helpful with the kids...taking them to school, bathtime, dinners, etc. He has just been great. I have given him a "honey do" list and he is working on some small projects around the house that needed to be done. He is about to start a painting adventure. I have picked a new paint color for our family room. I am really anxious to have it completed!!

I am also thrilled to have new hardware on my kitchen cabinets. I bought the hinges today and hopefully will have them done tomorrow.

I will share pictures of all my projects when he's done!!

Bad girl

I know most people have heard of the "Terrible Two's", but for the Oglesby kids...we normally hit them closer to three. Since Kenyon's birthday is about a month away...she has been testing her limits. This is her in a time out at a restaurant...badness to me!!

Trey's Fourth Birthday Party

We had a firetruck come and the kids got to climb on the truck and get in the driver's seat. They also got to turn on the lights and explore all the gear that was on it! It was a BIG hit!
This is Trey taking his turn at the Spiderman Pinata.

Here is Trey blowing out the candles on his cake.

This is Trey with daddy and Uncle Dave dressed up in the fireman's gear.

Trey's Spiderman cake. Yum!
The only thing that could have made the party better was the weather...it poured all day long!!

Halloween fun at Hershey Park

October means buying Halloween costumes. When you have three kids, costume purchases can be expensive. This means that my kids are wearing their costumes as often as they can...I like to get at least 4 good wears out of them before they become dress up clothes!

Tonight was one of those costume wearing nights...we went to Hershey Park in the Dark. They open up the park and the rides and have a section where the kids can go trick or treating.

We went Trick or Treating first and then hit some rides. Kayton is a genie, Trey is a UPS man and Kenyon is Raggedy Ann.

Boo!

Kayton's trip to NYC

So, my parents...being the amazing Gammy and Pop that they are took Kayton to New York City for her 6th birthday. Gammy and Kayton took the train from Harrisburg and met Pop already in the city. They went to the American Girl store...and of course Cassie (Kayton's AG) went too!! Here they are at the American Girl store for breakfast.
Then the adventure took them to FAO Schwartz...
where Kayton got to play on the infamous huge piano.

Then...the best part...in my opinion was being at FAO Schwartz with David and Posh Beckham and their boys!!! The guy in the dark plaid shirt holding the boy is David!! YUM! My dad took this picture and couldn't get any closer due to the 8 foot, massive body guard that said "No more pictures"!
Then, as if that weren't enough for a 6 year old...they went to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway. This is Kayton in her fancy dress with her new shell purse and the streamers from the show!

Kayton came home all smiles with lots of stories, a newly coifed and pierced Cassie, lots of pictures and memories to last a lifetime!!

Trey wants to know when it's his turn!!!

Living out my fantasy of being a rock star...just give me a microphone and watch out!!
Leigh and Brian were the experts at GH...they had all the moves!!

2nd Annual Sports Party

Kelly and Jason
Brian and Leigh

Roni and Jay
The party was great fun...there was outdoor games, a bonfire, guitar hero and the Penn State game...what could be better?

Ashcombe's

We went to Ashcombe's last week when the kids didn't have school. We went along with two of my friends (Sarah and Kelly) and their kids and two other children...11 in all! It was a beautiful day and the kids were enjoying being out in the sunshine. Most of the activities were closed, but we prevailed and had a great time!
