Toothless wonder!

The Tooth Fairy is on-call tonight. Kayton lost her first baby tooth! It was very wiggly for the last couple of days. We called it a "one finger wiggle". We talked about pulling it out and she wanted me to do it today. I told her that I would wrap a paper towel around it and just yank it out. She was nervous and kept pulling my hand away. Then, I suggested tying a string around her tooth and the other end on a doorknob. We tried that and the dental floss kept slipping off her tooth. Finally, I just yanked on the floss that was wrapped around her tooth and it was then barely hanging on. I grabbed a tissue and pulled it out. There were a few tears and a little bit of blood...but now there is just an empty space!!
I also found out that Trey will probably not be in the medical field. I found him in the bathroom thinking that he was going to throw up. He was bothered by the blood. He then proceeded to tell me that he didn't want to lose any teeth and that he was going to hide them from me if they were loose!

Goofy Pop

My dad stopped by yesterday as he does most weekends to see the kids. The kids of course are crazy about him and ran screaming to see him when he got here.

He brought coffee for the adults and doughnuts for the kids (and me...who are we kidding?) The kids immediately got into the Sunday paper. Kayton asked Pop to make her a hat from the paper. My dad looked concerned for a minute and then went on to make her a hat with the paper. Then Trey and Kenyon wanted hats made too. He proceeded to make hats for all the kids. They were pretty crafty with the use of some scotch tape.

Then he got crafty with just scotch tape and made himself into a pig face :-)

Sneaky Pete

The other day I saw Kenyon sneak out to the room. She was acting like she was hiding something, but I didn't think anything of this because she does this daily to hide the fact that she wants to poop in private. She will usually go under a table or in another room and only her grunting gives her away.

Well, this day she came back into the room with chocolate on her face.

This is how the conversation went:

Me: "What did you eat" (knowing that she stole chocolate)?

Kenyon: "nuffin"

Me: "Kenyon, don't fib to me, where did you get that candy"?

Kenyon: "I didn't".

Me: "I can see it on your face...show me where it came from"

She took me to the cabinet where she took it from...

Me: "Kenyon, you are not to eat candy without asking mommy first."

Kenyon: "OK mommy, sorry" and then she flashes me a smile and those blue eyes...who can resist?

Unwanted visitor

Doug and I went out to a Fundraiser the other night. We came home, put the kids to bed and went outside to enjoy the nice Spring evening. We were standing in the garage by the edge of the driveway. Doug says to me "go get a flashlight, I think I just saw a snake". I ran into the house and grabbed a flashlight. I came back out and flashed the light by the trashcans. He pulled one trashcan away and I saw about a 6 inch snake. I was skeeved out by that and became a scared little girl...on the verge of standing on something and screaming!! THEN, he pulled the other trashcan away and revealed the rest of the body of the snake...it seemed like it went on for forever (if you've ever heard my bat story...I tend to exaggerate). It was at least a 4 foot black snake. Doug grabbed a shovel and stabbed at it and threw it out onto the driveway. The snake was pissed, Doug was poking at the snake and I was making noises that I didn't know I could make.

Finally, I told him to just put the snake out of its misery and kill it...at this point it was bleeding and still trying to bite the shovel. One final jab with the shovel and the snake was dead...I still get the willies thinking about it and glance at the trashcans with caution!

Swine Flu

I'm not one to be overprotective...but when you are hearing about bizarre diseases and flu's that come from animals that are killing people, I tend to get mildly concerned. I'm also not one to call the pediatrician for silly reasons.

Trey is sick. He has a fever and has been throwing up...I'm not panicking, but again..mildly concerned.

I will wait to see how the day goes, but may be calling to get some tamiflu.

Kenyonism

My three year old is really coming into her own. She says things all the time that make me wonder if she really is in fact 3.

-I'm sure you have heard the saying "Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat, if you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down your underwear"...here was Kenyon's version..."stinky feet, smell my feet, give me something to eat, I don't care, smell my stinky feet"!!

-We were standing in my closet and I was trying to find something to wear...she touched my arm and said "mommy, don't panic"!

-I'm not a big fan of listening to children's music...I think it's much more beneficial to the kids to listen to "regular" music...this also helps my sanity. We listen to ALL kinds of music...top 40, country, rock, musicals, etc. Well, my kids all have their favorite songs and Kenyon's is Cheap Tricks (actually the "Letters to Cleo" version) "I want you to want me". She calls it Tumma Tumma See Gian. Now, let me explain...see was telling me to play this song and I had NO idea what she was talking about. I was listing songs that we hear and she was getting frustrated saying "NO, tumma tumma see gian"!!!!! Finally, I figured out what she was talking about. In the chorus of the song "I want you to want me" it goes "didn't I didn't I didn't I see you cryin'"...I guess if you sing that fast enough for a 3 year old you hear tumma tumma see gian! I bet you are humming the tune right now to figure it out :-)

President's Day

Kayton's class had a program for President's Day. It was really well done. They sang a bunch of songs, and then some kids came forward and had speaking parts. Kayton had one and she said "This day honors two of our greatest Presidents". She did great! We practiced her lines and songs for about 2 weeks!
There was a power point show that had pictures of all the presidents. One picture morphed into the next...
It was really cool. The kids talked during the presentation about different presidents. At the end there was a picture of Barack Obama. Trey (who was sitting on my lap) turns to me excitedly and says "mom, they have the same president that I have"!!!
After we left the school, I asked Kenyon who our president was and she yells
" Brock Obanaaaaaa"!!

Smallest Biggest Loser

I was doing the "Biggest Loser" workout one morning and Kenyon came down and started exercising with me. We both stopped when breakfast was ready :-)

Drive in theater?

Kayton and Kenyon were outside playing and Kayton comes inside and gets a blanket and returns back outside. I went to check to see what they were doing and this is what I found...
They were huddling together on the swing set pretending to be watching movies at the Drive-in.

In the mind of a 4 year old boy...

Trey is obsessed with legos and Xbox games with Doug. They make lego xbox games...so in Trey's opinion, this is the bestest!!

He loves playing Indiana Jones...or as Trey calls him "Indiana OF Jones"!

He also loves anything Spiderman, Batman and other superhero related. But my favorite is...

The "Incredible HOG"

When do the parties end?

My baby girl just turned 3 on 1/6. We celebrated her birthday with not one...not two...but THREE parties. At what point do you stop the madness??? Her first party was with Doug's side of the family and it was a mixture of Oglesby Chrismas and Kenyon's birthday. The next party was the next day at Build-A-Bear Workshop. She and three of her buddies (Tessa, Mila and Carly) along with her brother and sister made special bears.
I however, got that stomach flu that was going around and missed her party. I was really bummed. Doug took over...because if you read my blog...you know that he is a super dad. So, he and Ashley went and made sure that the birthday girl had a good time!
All the kids got to make bears and take them home. Kenyon got a bear that is wearing an Eagles cheerleading outfit...surprise, surprise...or if you didn't know super dad is a die hard Eagles fan!
And then finally the last party was on her actual birthday. We invited my family over for dinner and I made homemade macaroni and cheese (by request from the birthday girl) and cupcakes.
Happy 3rd Birthday Preshy!!

Hi-Yah!

Trey started Tae Kwon Do last week. Doug took him to his first lesson, so I don't have ALL the details. He said he liked it and wanted to do it again.

He is taking his turn at kicking.

This is his Tae Kwon Do "stance".

Onyx has a girlfriend

Kenyon got a "Fur Real" kitty for Christmas. If you don't know what this is...it is a cat that is battery operated and looks real. It will react to touch, light and movement. If you pet it it will purr and blink. It will meow if you turn on or off the light and will move around and react to you.

I put it in front of Onyx the other day and he would move his head to look at it which in turn would make it meow or purr. Onyx kept looking at me like..."why are you doing this to me...I am trying to sleep"? It was really funny and amused me for a while:-)

Kayton the photographer

Every once in a while a child will get their hands on the camera...this is the result when Kayton got it!!

Gammy and Pop and their grandchildren

Here are Gammy and Pop with all their grandchildren. From left to right we have Lane, Kenyon, Kayton, Trey and Tessa.

Kenyon is a hoot.

The other day Kenyon...who just turned three says to me "Mama, are you finkin what I'm finkin? I laughed and said "probably not, but what are you thinking"? She just smiled.

Where do kids come up with this stuff?!?!

Tomatoes

There are three tomatoes walking down the street. A mama tomato, a daddy tomato and a baby tomato. The baby tomato was lagging behind and the daddy goes back, squished him and says "ketch up".

That's what I am trying to do...is "ketchup". I have a bunch of pictures and stories to blog and very little time to do that...so bear with me.

Santa and his entourage

Santa makes a visit to all the kids in our neighborhood. This was all the kids who came out to see him and the Linglestown Fire Company that brought him.
It was really freaking cold that day.

This was us waiting in line for Santa...we brought one of Kayton's friends with us, she lives down the street from us (Hailey's the one in the pink coat).

Santa driving in on his old fashioned fire truck. He gave all the kids a gift bag filled with a teddy bear, candy canes and an orange.
